I have to give it up to the champ. Music for me speaks volumes, and the guitar is much more noticable in Bon Iver's version. It really helps set the tone. I felt my morale plummet just from the soft strumming at the start of it. He hadn't even started to sing yet.
I will submit that I may be biased. When Ellie Goulding opened her mouth at the start of her song, I immediately thought to myself "She sounds like someone who would sing bluegrass". Then I pictured a banjo. Then I chuckled. I live in Va. What can I say?
